Upgrading to Windows 8 with ease

Windows 8 upgrade, tips

Make installation fun

If you have decided to upgrade the operating system to the latest version of Windows, you will be benefitted by the tips given here. Just take a look at them before Windows 8 upgrade.

1: Hardware requirements

The minimum hardware requirements for Windows 8 are:

  • 1 GHz or faster processor
  • 1GB (32-bit) or 2GB (64-bit) of RAM
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Even if you don’t have these specific requirements met, you still can install Windows 8.

2: Consider the system

Windows 8 will work fine with a broad range of devices- desktops, notebooks and tablets. However, but it will not be as comfortable with Netbooks. The small screen of Netbooks will be not suitable for Windows 8 as it will look like cramped screen.

3: Dodgy downloads and defective discs

The most annoying Windows 8 problems with are those associated with the corrupted downloads and defective DVD discs. If you are trying to burn the Windows 8 ISO file, which is downloaded, into a disc or copying into an USB drive, it can cause many problems.

4: Updated drivers and software

Though Microsoft offers compatibility with old drivers and hardware, it is not sure how well these theoretical assessments will work in practical. It would be best to update and upgrade the hardware and drivers before the Windows 8 upgrade of your operating system.  Check the security software, if it is compatible with the new operating software and will continue functioning as smooth as it used to do in the previous operating system. it would be best if you uninstall the security and antivirus software while installing Windows8 and reinstall them once the operating system starts running fine.

5: Clean start

The recent announcement from Microsoft says that older Windows versions can be upgraded to the latest version. But this may not work as expected. It would be always advisable to have a clean start; a fresh installation. If you are doing fresh installation, you must have the configuration details, the license key and passwords ready and handy. If you wipe your system clean and install the software, you can avoid conflicts with incompatible drivers, software mis-configuration, the presence of GPT-style partitions, and malware.

These tips would make your upgrading fun and enjoyable.
