Microsoft released their latest operating system Windows 8 in a view to consolidate the mobile computing devices and computers to use a single operating system. Well, Microsoft released a new update for the operating system by the name Windows 8.1 which is in fact not an update but a new operating system as a whole. The existing Windows 8 customers will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 updated version, Windows8.1 for free. However, there is some sort of error with the Windows Store that is preventing users from updating their computer to the latest Windows 8.1 operating system. There are mainly two reasons why you are not able to upgrade to Windows 8 updated operating system- Windows 8.1. Here we list out the reasons and solutions.

One of the major reasons for not being able to upgrade to the Windows 8.1 operating system is mainly due to not applying needed updates on your system. Before you go for a system update, make sure that you have updated your system with all the latest updates. If you have your system updated with latest Windows updates, then it will be a lot easier for you to install upgraded versions of the operating system. The updates can be installed on your system by launching the Windows Update program and following the prompts shown. You can alternatively download updates by visiting the Microsoft support page and then downloading it from there.

Some versions of the Windows 8 operating system will not allow you to download from the Windows Store such that you will need to find another way to download it. You can install the upgrade by completely uninstalling the new operating system and then downloading and installing the operating system on your system.

Installing a different edition of the operating system on your system will also help you in upgrading to Windows 8.1.
